CARE FOR DEMENTIA PATIENTS

Dementia CARE

Each person with Alzheimer's disease or Dementia will experience its symptoms and progression differently.  If you or your loved one is navigating life with Dementia, we are here to offer assistance through out your journey.  We are here to help! Your life does not end when you have dementia, it just changes. We are here to help you and your family navigate those changes. Our care team strives to keep your loved one safe and in the comforts of their own home.

Our staff undergoes specialized Alzheimer's and dementia training to assist you and your family through this difficult time. We work to build a care plan specific to the individual. We encourage our clients to be active and participate in various activities to help keep ones' mind active.

Here are some things our care providers can do with your loved one through out the day:

  • Assemble memory boxes
  • Reminisce by looking at photos, looking through a life history book
  • Encourage simple tasks like folding clothes and napkins, dusting, knitting or other activities/hobbies your loved likes to do.

If a certain task does not appeal one day we can try again, and will also suggest different activities. We encourage the family to be involved in this process, as it is important to reengage in things the client once enjoyed.

As the disease progresses we can assist you or your loved with activities of daily living.

  • Ambulation Assistance
  • Incontinence Care
  • Assist with Dressing and Grooming
  • Bathing, Bathing assistance
  • Meal preparation
  • Feeding assistance
  • Light house keeping
  • Laundry
  • Running Errands
  • Transportation to and from appointments

We are also here to assist the family, as caring for someone with dementia can be a challenging and demanding duty.  If you need a break, we can offer you that through our respite care service.

If you or your loved one is living with dementia just remember patience and flexibility, coupled with self-care and the support of friends and family can help you deal with the challenges and frustrations ahead. When it all becomes too much to handle, we are here to help as well.
